Tourist police in the Maldives

This week on three Islands of the Maldives, malé, Villingili and Hulhumale, who started a special tourist police, whose duties will include ensuring the safety of foreign tourists.

The tourist police will monitor the performance of local guides, to monitor the implementation of the prescribed set of rules of Tourism of Maldives and the rights of foreigners coming on holiday to malé.

According to local authorities, a special police unit will also be responsible for informing foreign tourists on local laws and religious peculiarities of the Maldives.
