The new rules of entry to Russia

March 15, 2014 in connection with complication of a political situation changed the conditions of entry to the territory of the Russian Federation for foreign citizens and individuals without citizenship.

The FSB of the Russian Federation and border control, Border service has tightened the requirements for foreign nationals wishing to enter the country.

At the border when entering the country, foreign nationals are now required to provide documents confirming availability of sufficient funds for stay in the territory of the Russian Federation for all term of stay and subsequent timely departure from the country.

What documents foreign nationals may confirm their ability to pay:

1. Duly executed contract between the foreign citizen and the Agency on the provision of tourist services (tours and travel). Foreigners entering the territory of the Russian Federation must submit a document signed by a host Russian travel company to confirm the validity of the travel agreement.
2. Letter of invitation for a foreign citizen or stateless person, issued in the prescribed manner by the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, its representative offices on the territory of the Russian Federation, the Federal migration service of the Russian Federation or its territorial bodies.
3. Duly issued letter of guarantee of the inviting party (a citizen of the Russian Federation, enterprises, etc.).
4. Proof of timely departure from the territory of the Russian Federation are valid travel ticket or document, which is a guarantee of future ticketing, for example, during a transfer at the airport or train station in Russia.

As a prerequisite for entry into the territory of the Russian Federation, in addition to confirming the financial security of securities is a valid medical insurance policy.

When proof of solvency is not required for entry and residence of foreigners on the territory of the Russian Federation:

1. In the occasion of the official visit to the Russian Federation.
2. For business trips to international organizations, foreign representative offices accredited in the Russian Federation subdivision, and other purposes of official business.
3. Family members of foreign nationals working in the Russian Federation who come with the purpose of living together.
4. With the entry into Russia of foreign citizens who have received in Russia the status of refugees.
