Villa Floridiana is open for tourists

One of the most beautiful historical residences of Naples, Villa Floridiana, reopened to tourists after restoration that lasted several years.

On the territory of the old mansion, built in the eighteenth century, now operates the Naples Museum of ceramics Duca di Martina — it occupies the entire first floor of the Belvedere since 1927.

Here are about seven thousand unique exhibits, created during the period from 12th to 19th century, each of which is a true work of art and has historical value.

In the Museum you can see articles of glass and China — Chinese, Japanese and European, ivory and enamel, coral and leather, and also the collection of Neapolitan sketches, vintage snuff, and Spanish-Moorish majolica.

The residence is surrounded by a picturesque Park created in the early 19th century by order of Ferdinand I of Bourbon, who purchased a Villa as a gift as a summer residence for his wife Lucia Migliaccio, Partanna, Duchess of Floridia. Its same name and was subsequently named the estate.

The Park is planted many kinds of trees and flowers, it is very beautiful and strikes a harmonious orderliness fancy curving alleys, shady groves, floral ensembles, of artificial ruins in architecture, fountains and statues. The building of the Villa Floridiana was built by the project of Antonio Nicolini — talented neo-classical architect.
