In Central Oslo cars will be banned
The municipal government of Oslo, capital of Norway, is planning in the next few years to radically change the situation with the dominance of cars in the Central part of the city. According to official plans, by 2019, car traffic in Oslo will be reduced by 20%, and the Central part of the city will be completely cleared of cars.
Demolition work of the Parking lots in the centre of Oslo has already begun — Parking transferred outside the first ring road, and in their place will be restaurants, shops, theatres and other infrastructure. In parallel with the transfer of the Parking lots will be equipped with velopharyngeal and about 60 kilometers of bike lanes. In addition, for residents of the Norwegian capital will operate a special program subsidizing the purchase of electric bicycles.
