Fines

In October, Finland modifies the system of penalties for speeding for motorists. Now the police will issue a fine to drivers exceeding the speed limit by 7 or more miles per hour, then as now the allowed speed limit on highways in Finland is 8 km/h.

In addition, law enforcement officers will constantly monitor compliance with speed limits and traffic regulations in the areas located near schools, kindergartens, sports centers — in places, near which a particularly high risk of accidents.

As explained this decision in the Finnish police, this will reduce the number of road accidents and make roads safer for drivers and pedestrians.
