London, capital of Britain, in the near future may introduce a tourist tax.
It is assumed that, if this tourist tax for stays in London hotels will be agreed upon and approved, to the cost of hotel accommodation will be added to the mandatory payment of tax in the amount of 1 lb.
In city administration assert that additional income that will come in the budget of London with these travel fees, is expected to be a year about 5 million pounds.
The expected inflow will be directed to additional cleaning of the popular tourist areas of the city that, as representatives of local authorities, suffering from a pretty impressive number of travelers, regularly visiting local attractions.
But while tourists can be calm — maintenance of the tourist tax in the city of London is only at the stage of consideration, and possible only if changes in several provisions of the national legislation or in the case of adoption of local voluntary agreements. Without these conditions, the introduction of a tax on accommodation in hotels of London is impossible.
Now such a tourist tax on accommodation in hotels operates in several European cities: Berlin, Florence, Venice, Paris and others. Hotel fees in each city are different, so the final amount of tax may vary from one Euro up to 5% of the total stay.
