Festival Ommegang in Brussels

In Brussels, capital of Belgium, from 1 to 3 July 2014 will be held in the famous historical holiday, Ommegang.

This ancient folk festival, now recognized as intangible heritage of the country, is almost an exact reconstruction of the events of the XVI century, when in honour of the visit of Charles V in Brussels to know staged a Grand celebration.

The celebration was so beautiful and massive that impressed both the monarch and the Belgians.

Since then, the festival, held annually Ommegang and with strict observance of all Flemish traditions.

Tourists will appreciate the lush fancy-dress procession which 1st July at 20:15 will be a solemn procession from the Royal Park to the Grand place. Next on the program guests  historical feast awaits Grand historical show, which will be attended by fifteen hundred actors. During the presentation, the audience will enjoy the performances of minstrels, archers and horsemen, to watch the parade of artisans and taste the unusual delicacies and drinks prepared according to old recipes.

Special atmosphere of this festival bring a realistic costume the podium – on the festively decorated platforms for the tournament and the guests of the celebration will be watching to know that era – from William I to Mary of Austria.

Price of admission on Ommegang: from €37.5 to €77,5. The cost depends on the selected field.
