Uz: the rise in price of train tickets

Ukrzaliznytsia reported that the cost of travel on Ukrainian trains in the near future will be increased, and rise in price of train tickets is expected until the beginning of may.

The price of train tickets will rise, as reported in uz, in average of 21%. The price hike will affect all categories and classes of passenger trains. The only exception will be the 1st class intercity fare which will remain at the same level, and tickets in the 2nd class intercity will rise by only 5.2%.

As explained in the Ministry of Infrastructure, at the moment the document governing the change of tariffs for railway passenger transport, is under consideration. The target date for approval of tariff changes is called the 6 April 2015, so the increase in tariffs Ukrainians should expect even before the may holidays.

Earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia planned to change the tariffs for travel in passenger trains in stages, in three steps. The first increase in the cost of rail tickets was scheduled for March 1, 2015, but later the leadership of the Ukrainian Railways have considered a one-time increase in tariffs is more appropriate.
