Rare locomotive in Transcarpathia for tourists
On all weekend days of August, residents and guests of Transcarpathia can take an unusual trip on a retro-train on an old railway.
As reported in Ukrzaliznytsia, the German steam locomotive Gr-280, created in the middle of the last century, will be transported by passengers, and the route will sail along the Borzhavsky narrow-gauge railway, built in 1908 on picturesque lands between Polonina Borzhava, Bolshoy Dol and Transcarpathian lowlands (Khmelnik- Vinogradov). The path runs along the coast of the Borzhava River.
The first flight of the steam engine Gr-280, whose age is almost 70 years, will be completed on August 4, 2017.
The existing locomotives of the GR series in Ukraine can be seen, mainly, on children's railways, and in many cities they are installed as monuments and are not operated.
