Tickets for trains will rise in price
Ukrzaliznytsia informs about the increase in prices for railway tickets planned for July 1, 2017 in two oblasts of Ukraine — Kirovohrad and Cherkassy. The rise in price will affect the trains of suburban traffic and will increase the current tariffs by 15%.
Such a decision in the administration of the Ukrainian Railways is motivated by the loss of passenger traffic on suburban routes. It is noted that the announced price increase will allow the Odessa railway, serving these regions, to provide the necessary updating of the rolling stock, improve the quality of the service provided to passengers and compensate for the growth of electricity tariffs for the enterprise.
As reported in the Odessa branch of Ukrzaliznytsia, an increase in the fare in commuter trains will allow to fully preserve all operating routes of this category, without reducing the frequency of flights and without canceling trains.
It is noted that benefits for students and children will continue to operate. A child ticket for a train intended for small passengers between the ages of 6 and 14 can be bought for 75% of the cost of a standard ticket, and a railway ticket for a student discount — just 50% of the base cost.
