Floating airport in Bali

In Bali in the near future there will be an unusual airport, located on the water near the coast of the district of Buleleng, Kubutambahan.

Under the project, the airport on the water in Bali will have two full runways, and its total area is about 1400 hectares. Floating platform, which will house airport, will be reinforced with special concrete poles, for installation of which will be partially drained part of the beach.

Distance from Ngurah Rai international airport to the new air port will be about 70 miles, and to get from water Buleleng airport to the popular resorts of Bali will be using trains or vehicles. The airport itself is on the water will be connected to the mainland by a 125-metre bridge.

According to preliminary estimates the cost of building a new terminal on the island will be $3 billion, the investor will make a large Corporation from Canada. Completion is expected in 2018.

The construction of a new airport in Bali will be a major step in the development of tourism in North Bali, say authorities of the island. In addition, the new air port will help remove an unnecessary burden from the main airport of Bali, Ngurah Rai, the passenger traffic which is now much higher than was initially envisaged his project.
