The sky over Ukraine is partially closed



The

Eurocontrol, the European organisation for the safety of air navigation, reports that yesterday, after confirming the information about the fall of a passenger aircraft in the Donetsk region, the State aviation service of Ukraine announced a partial closure of the sky over the area of the ATO.

The representatives of the Eurocontrol shall also inform that at the moment all requests for flights, the routes which pass through the region of the Dnipropetrovsk flight information region, i.e. on the territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, Dnipropetrovsk, and also over the East of Sumy and Poltava regions, the Organization is completely rejected.

On the official website of the Ministry of transport published a message about the full termination of flights over the territories of Donetsk, Luhansk and part of Kharkiv region.  Information about how long the ban on flights over the Eastern regions of Ukraine, is not yet available.

Malaysian passenger plane Amsterdam-Kuala Lumpur was shot down by a missile “surface-to-air” over the Donetsk region in the evening of 17 July 2014. The attack killed 298 people-283 passengers and 15 crew members.

Earlier it was reported that the airspace over the ATO zone was closed to the level of 320. The air crash with the Malaysian airlines plane occurred at an altitude of 10,000 meters, that is, in the air corridor 330, until yesterday, remained permitted to fly. Now in this region there is a ban on flights at all altitudes without exception.

In connection with this situation, some airlines announced the decision to restrict flights over the territory of Ukraine, in particular from flying over the Ukrainian territory is now temporarily refused Aeroflot, Transaero and air Astana. Airlines of the Russian Federation has instructed the Federal air transport Agency banned as flights to Ukraine and transit flights through the air corridors of the country.

Representatives of international airlines report that the ban on flights over Ukrainian lands yet will last 2 days, after which a decision will be made about its continuation or the resumption of flights.

Also has information on a two-day cease flights over the entire territory of Ukraine from Finnair and Turkish Airlines. The intention in the coming days to avoid the airspace of countries and airlines, and Vietnam Airlines CSA – carriers quickly change the routes of their flights and I was told that if you make a new map of flights in the near future will not work, some flights through the air corridors over Ukraine will have to cancel.

Also was part of the cancelled flights from other airlines who had to fly over Ukraine in the night from 17 to 18 July and the morning of 18 July. Currently it is reported about the cancellation of some flights from Kiev to destinations: Paris, Ashgabat, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Dubai, Alma-ATA.

The security service of Ukraine opened criminal case under the article 258 of the criminal code of Ukraine (terrorist act). Under investigation.
