Railway station at the airport of Kutaisi

Railway

Kutaisi International Airport (named after David Agmashenebeli) will get its own railway station - the railway will connect the air harbor with the central city railway station.

The construction of a three-kilometer stretch of railroad tracks has already been started, the completion of works and commissioning are planned for April 2018. According to preliminary estimates, the cost of the project will be about two million dollars.

According to local authorities, this municipal project will be a big step in optimizing the functioning of the airport and will make the transport infrastructure of Kutaisi more convenient for residents and visitors of the city. In particular, passengers will be able to get to the airport of David Agmashenebeli by train from any corner of Georgia, direct railway communication will connect the terminal with all popular mountain and sea resorts.

It should be noted that already now the international airport of Kutaisi accepts flights of many low-cost airlines, and after the introduction of visa-free regime with the EU due to its convenient location the airport has every chance to become a major air hub.
