London City airport will be expanded

One of the capital of the UK airports, London City, will be expanded — the decision was approved by the local authorities.

The modernization of the airport provides for an increase in the number of Parking areas for planes (creation of seven new), the creation of additional taxiway parallel to the existing one, as well as the expansion of the existing passenger terminal. Completion of works is scheduled for 2025.

The updated London City airport will take about six and a half million passengers per year (currently about 4.3 million), as it appears more than two thousand new jobs. Length of the current strip — 1508 metres that allows to accept only small passenger planes and Airliners A318, which have flights on route London — new York — London.

According to preliminary estimates the total investment in the modernization of the London airport will be approximately $450 million (344 million pounds), funding will be provided through private investment.
